20 or 25 Inch Shaft?

Measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull. Around 20 inches calls for the L; around 25 inches, found on some deeper V hulls and boats with taller transoms, calls for the X. A shaft that is too short lets the prop ventilate; one that is too long adds drag.

Rigging the BF50

As remote control engines, both models need a Honda compatible control box and cables, a steering system, a key switch and harness, gauges and a battery. If you are repowering from an older Honda, some of this may carry over.

Propeller Choice

Fit a prop that allows the engine to reach its recommended full throttle revs with a normal load. Pontoons usually need less pitch than light fishing boats. If your boat is very heavy, consider the Power Thrust Honda 60.
