Nissan 6 HP Outboard for Sale: The NSF6

The Nissan NSF6 is the strongest of Nissan's single cylinder portables. It shares its light body with the 4 and 5 HP models, so it is still easy to carry, but delivers enough power to plane a light inflatable and push a small sailboat with authority. With five versions in stock, you can choose the one that best fits your boat. Here is every Nissan 6 HP outboard for sale in our stock.

Models in Stock

All are 6 HP four stroke tiller motors. The letters and final digit identify the version, such as shaft length and fuel setup. Each product page lists the exact specification, and we are happy to help you compare.

Who Buys a Nissan 6?

  • Inflatable owners with 2.7 to 3.2 metre boats who want to plane.
  • Yacht tender owners carrying crew and supplies.
  • Small sailboat owners needing a dependable auxiliary.
  • Rental fleets and anglers wanting an affordable, light motor.

Why Choose the NSF6?

Most power in a portable

Six horsepower is about the most you can get before motors become noticeably heavier.

Gearshift

Shared Tohatsu engineering

Proven design and widely available parts.

Budget friendly

A dependable four stroke at an attractive price.

Choosing the Right Version

Start with your transom measurement: about 15 inches suits a short shaft, about 20 inches a long shaft. Then check each product page for shaft length and fuel setup, or send us your measurement and we will recommend the right NSF6.

Getting the Best Performance

On an inflatable, move weight forward to help the boat plane. Set the tilt so the shaft is vertical under way. Keep a spare shear pin or prop hub and a spare spark plug on board.

Care Tips

  • Flush after salt water use.
  • Change engine and gear oil on schedule.
  • Drain or stabilise fuel before storage.

Using the NSF6 on a Sailboat

For small sailboats, choose a version with a long shaft and mount it on an adjustable bracket so the anti ventilation plate sits a few inches below the waterline when lowered. A 6 HP motor gives enough thrust to push most 6 to 7 metre sailboats against a moderate headwind and to manoeuvre in a marina. Tilt the motor fully clear of the water while sailing to cut drag and reduce marine growth, and close the fuel vent when it is tilted.

Transport and Storage

Close the fuel vent and valve, then carry and lay the motor only on the side shown in the owner's manual so oil stays where it should. For storage longer than a few weeks, run the carburettor dry or add a fuel stabiliser.
