Mercury 200 HP Outboard for Sale: Pro XS and Verado
At 200 horsepower, Mercury's Pro XS line is built for anglers and drivers who care about acceleration and top end speed. Pro XS engines are a common sight on tournament bass boats, bay boats and performance hulls. Here is every Mercury 200 HP outboard for sale we currently stock, including a 200 Verado.
Models in Stock
- Mercury 200XL Pro XS: 25 inch shaft, mechanical controls.
- Mercury 200XL Pro XS DTS: 25 inch shaft, Digital Throttle and Shift.
- Mercury 200L Pro XS TorqueMaster: 20 inch shaft, TorqueMaster gear case.

What Is Pro XS?
Pro XS is Mercury's performance family. These engines are calibrated for a strong holeshot and higher top speed, so boats leap onto plane and reach the fishing spot first. They keep Mercury four stroke reliability, so they suit both tournament use and everyday fishing.
TorqueMaster Gear Case
The TorqueMaster version uses a gear case designed for performance boats running high on jack plates. It helps the prop bite and hold in tight turns and at high speed, which is why it is popular on bass boats. If you run a bass boat with a jack plate, the 200L Pro XS TorqueMaster is usually the one to look at.
Mechanical or DTS Controls?
Mechanical models use traditional throttle and shift cables, which are simple and often work with existing Mercury controls on a repower. DTS models use digital controls for smooth, precise shifts and throttle response with no cable stretch or adjustment. DTS needs compatible digital controls, so check your current setup before choosing.
Boats That Suit a Mercury 200
- Bass boats of around 5.8 to 6.2 metres.
- Bay boats and flats boats.
- Performance bowriders and deck boats.
- Centre consoles rated around 200 HP.
Choosing a Shaft
Bass boats with jack plates often use the 20 inch L. Bay boats and centre consoles often use the 25 inch XL. Measure from the transom top or jack plate to the hull bottom, and ask us if you are unsure.
Propellers
Pro XS engines usually run stainless steel props chosen for the boat's speed and setup. The engine should reach the top of its recommended full throttle rev range with your normal load. On bass boats, prop choice and engine height work together, so plan to test.
Care Tips
- Flush after salt water use.
- Change oil, filter and gear lube on schedule.
- Inspect anodes and the water pump impeller.
- Use fresh fuel and a water separating filter.
