Yamaha 60 HP Outboard for Sale: F60, T60 and F60 Jet

Sixty horsepower is one of the most useful sizes Yamaha builds. It is enough to move a family pontoon with a full load, plane a 5 to 6 metre fishing boat briskly, or, in jet form, power a river boat through very shallow water. Yamaha offers three versions, each suited to a different kind of boat. Here is every Yamaha 60 HP outboard for sale in our stock.

Which Version Is Right for You?

F60: the all rounder

The standard F60 suits aluminium fishing boats, runabouts and RIBs. It offers a good balance of acceleration, top speed and economy.

T60 High Thrust: for heavy boats

The T60 uses a lower gear ratio and larger prop. It is the best choice for pontoons and heavy work boats, giving stronger acceleration under load, better low speed control and more effective reverse.

F60 Jet: for shallow rivers

The jet version replaces the propeller with a pump, so nothing hangs below the hull. It is ideal for river boats running over gravel bars and rocks. Jets trade some speed and economy for the ability to run in very shallow water.

Boats That Suit a Yamaha 60

  • Pontoons of 5.5 to 6.5 metres (T60).
  • Fishing boats of 5 to 5.8 metres with tiller or console (F60).
  • Flat bottom river and drift boats (F60 jet).
  • Work boats, ferries and guides' boats.

Common Features

  • Fuel injected four stroke for reliable starts and good economy.
  • Power trim and tilt on most versions, to tune running angle and lift the engine in shallows.
  • Strong charging output for electronics.
  • Yamaha's reputation for durability and worldwide parts support.

Rigging and Mounting

Remote models need a control box, cables, steering, a key switch, gauges and a battery. Tiller jet packages need a battery and fuel system but no helm controls. Jet outboards must be mounted at the correct height so the intake sits just right relative to the hull bottom; ask us for guidance before installing.

Looking After Your Yamaha 60

  • Flush after salt water or silty river use.
  • Change oil, filter and gear oil on prop models on schedule.
  • On jets, grease the bearing after each day of use as the manual advises and check the intake grate.
