Nissan 5 HP Outboard for Sale: The NSF5C2

The Nissan NSF5 sits in the middle of Nissan's 4, 5 and 6 HP family. It offers a good balance of weight and power for tender owners who often carry two or three people, and for small sailboats that need a reliable auxiliary. Built on engineering shared with Tohatsu, it is simple to maintain and parts are easy to find. Here is the Nissan 5 HP outboard for sale in our stock.

Model in Stock

NSF is Nissan four stroke, 5 the horsepower, C the generation and 2 the version. The product page gives the shaft length and full specification.

Who Is the Nissan 5 For?

  • Yacht tenders and inflatables of 2.5 to 3 metres carrying passengers.
  • Small aluminium dinghies and fishing punts.
  • Day sailers and small keelboats needing an auxiliary.
  • Owners wanting a dependable, budget friendly four stroke.

Why the NSF5?

Balanced weight and power

Five horsepower moves a loaded tender briskly without making the motor hard to carry.

Gearshift

Motors in this family typically offer forward, neutral and reverse for easy docking and manoeuvring.

Fuel flexibility

Use the built in tank for short trips; many motors in this family can also run from an external tank. Check the product page.

Easy servicing

A simple single cylinder design and shared parts keep maintenance straightforward.

Checking the Shaft

Measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull. About 15 inches suits a short shaft; about 20 inches suits a long shaft. Confirm on the product page or ask us before ordering.

Using the NSF5 on a Sailboat

Mount the motor on an adjustable bracket so the anti ventilation plate sits a few inches below the waterline when lowered. Tilt it clear of the water while sailing to cut drag, and close the fuel vent when tilted up. A longer shaft helps keep the prop submerged as the stern lifts.

Care Tips

  • Flush after salt water use and check the cooling water stream when starting.
  • Change engine and gear oil at the recommended intervals.
  • Drain or stabilise fuel before storage.
  • Carry and store on the correct side.

Transport and Storage

Close the fuel vent and valve, then carry and lay the motor only on the side shown in the owner's manual. For storage longer than a few weeks, run the carburettor dry or add a fuel stabiliser. Store the motor upright on a stand in a dry place if possible.

Getting the Best Fuel Economy

On displacement boats, the last part of the throttle adds little speed but a lot of fuel use. Cruising at two thirds to three quarters throttle usually gives the best balance of speed, economy and comfort.
