Honda 25 HP Outboard for Sale: The BF25
At 25 horsepower, Honda moves to a three cylinder engine. Compared with the twin cylinder BF20, the BF25 offers smoother running, stronger mid range torque and a more refined feel, which shows most when the boat is loaded. It shares its platform with the BF30, so it is built with strength to spare. Here is every Honda 25 HP outboard for sale in our stock.

BF25 Strengths
Three cylinder refinement
Three cylinders run more smoothly than two, with less vibration at idle and when trolling.
Strong torque
The BF25's engine pulls well from low revs, helping heavier boats get onto plane.
Tilt options
Gas assist tilt (G) makes manual tilting easy without any electrics, while power trim and tilt (T) lets you adjust the running angle under way and lift the motor at the touch of a button.
Tiller or Remote?
The BF25D3SHG tiller suits open skiffs and RIBs where the driver sits at the stern. The remote versions are steered from a console and need a control box and cables, steering, a key switch, gauges and a battery.
Gas Assist or Power Trim?
Gas assist keeps things simple and light. Power trim adds the ability to fine tune the boat's attitude under way, which improves ride, speed and fuel use on boats that see changing loads. If you plan to fish with different numbers of people aboard, power trim is worth considering.
Choosing a Shaft
About 15 inches of transom calls for S; about 20 inches for L. Measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull.
Care Tips
- Flush after salt water use.
- Change engine oil and gear oil on schedule.
- Inspect the water pump impeller, anodes and prop.
- Use fresh fuel and a water separating filter.
Getting the Propeller Right
Fit a prop that lets the engine reach its recommended full throttle revs with your normal load. Light skiffs can run more pitch for top speed, while heavier RIBs and work boats usually need a lower pitch for a strong holeshot. If the engine over revs, increase pitch; if it struggles to reach the range, reduce it.
