AT or AP: Mechanical or Drive by Wire?

AT models use traditional mechanical throttle and shift cables. They are simple, proven and often work with existing Suzuki controls when you repower. AP models use Suzuki Precision Control, which replaces the cables with electronic signals for smooth, precise shifting and throttle response. Many AP models also offer Suzuki Selective Rotation, which lets one engine be set to turn either way, simplifying twin installations. AP engines need compatible electronic controls, so factor that into your budget.

Looking After a DF150

A DF150 that is serviced on time will run for many seasons. Flush it with fresh water after every salt water trip using the flush port, and rinse the outside of the engine. Change the engine oil, oil filter and gear oil at the hours shown in the owner's manual, and check the water pump impeller, thermostats and anodes during each service. Use fresh fuel with a good water separating filter, because modern fuel injection systems do not tolerate water or stale fuel.
