Nissan 20 HP Outboard for Sale: The NSF20
The Nissan NSF20 shares its light twin cylinder body with the NSF15 but adds a clear step up in performance. Boats plane faster, carry heavier loads with less effort and stay on plane when the wind picks up. As with all Nissan outboards, it shares engineering with Tohatsu, so parts are easy to source. Here is every Nissan 20 HP outboard for sale in our stock.
Models in Stock
- Nissan NSF20C1: manual start, tiller.
- Nissan NSF20C2: manual start, tiller, alternative version.
- Nissan NSF20CEF1: electric start version.
C is the generation, EF electric start and the final digit the version, typically shaft length. Each product page lists the exact specification.
Who Buys a Nissan 20?
- Jon boat and aluminium boat owners with 4 to 4.6 metre boats.
- RIB and inflatable owners wanting strong performance from a light motor.
- River and lake anglers needing dependable small boat power.
- Fleets and work boats on a budget.
Why the NSF20?
Great power to weight
Sharing a body with the NSF15 keeps it light, so small hulls plane quickly and stay balanced.
Choice of starting
Manual start for simplicity, or electric start for convenience and battery charging.
Affordable four stroke
Quiet, economical running at a very approachable price.
Choosing a Version
Measure your transom first: about 15 inches suits a short shaft and about 20 inches a long shaft. Then choose manual or electric start. Ask us to confirm the shaft length of each version before ordering.
Getting the Best Performance
Keep weight forward to help the boat plane, trim so it runs level, and fit a prop that lets the motor reach its recommended full throttle revs with your usual load.
Care Tips
- Flush after salt water use.
- Change engine and gear oil on schedule.
- Use fresh fuel and stabilise it before storage.
- Inspect the water pump impeller, anode and prop.
Rigging and Fuel
The NSF20 is a tiller motor, so rigging is simple: a fuel tank, a fuel line with a primer bulb and, for the electric start model, a starting battery and cables. A water separating filter between the tank and motor is cheap insurance against bad fuel, especially in humid or coastal areas where condensation builds up in tanks. Keep the tank vent closed when the boat is not in use and buy fuel from busy stations so it is fresh.
Is a Nissan 20 Right for You?
If your boat is rated for 20 HP and you want strong performance on a budget, the NSF20 is an excellent choice. It is light enough to remove and store at home, which helps with security and winter storage. If you need a gearshift on a much smaller boat, the 4 to 6 HP models are easier to carry, and if you need more power for a heavier boat, Tohatsu's 25 and 30 HP motors are the next step up. Tell us your boat's length, weight and typical load and we will help you decide.
