Why Choose the XR Battery?
The standard battery holds 1.9 kWh. The XR holds 2.8 kWh, close to 50 percent more energy. On the water that means longer cruises, more laps of the lake, and enough charge for two or three riders to take turns in a single session. If you ride hard in Sport or Extreme mode, the extra capacity also keeps you going after a standard battery would be flat.
The trade off is weight. At 48 lb, the XR is 8 lb heavier than the standard battery. Most riders do not notice the difference once moving, but some riders who focus on jumps and tricks prefer the lighter pack.
A Second Battery Doubles Your Day
Awake’s modular plug and play system means batteries swap in seconds and work across its boards. Many owners keep two batteries: one on the board and one on the charger. With an XR on charge while you ride, you can keep the session going almost all day. If you run two batteries, add an extra Awake Power Key Leash so each pack has its own key.
Which Battery Should I Buy?
- Long cruising and exploring: the XR.
- Several riders sharing one board: the XR.
- Short, intense sessions and jumps: the lighter Awake Flex Battery SR.
- All day riding: one of each, swapped between charges.
Getting the Most Ride Time
- Cruise in Eco or Sport and use Extreme for short bursts.
- Keep the throttle smooth. Hard acceleration drains energy fastest.
- Ride flat water for long sessions. Chop and headwinds cost range.
- Keep the board’s intake clear of weed.
- Keep firmware updated through the Awake app.
Charging
The XR charges in about 2 hours. Charge it with the Awake charger supplied with your board, or add a second Awake Flex Battery Charger so two batteries can charge at once. Charge in a dry, ventilated place away from flammable materials, and never cover the battery while charging.
Care and Storage
- Rinse the battery housing with fresh water after salt water use, following Awake’s guidance.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sun and frost.
- Do not leave it in a hot car.
- For long storage, keep it at the charge level Awake recommends rather than full or empty.
- Store and transport it in a fire resistant case such as the Zarges case for Awake battery.
